Kim Kallstrom has joined Arsenal on loan from Spartak Moscow for the rest of the season.
The Swedish midfielder, who has more than 100 international caps, will bolster Arsenal’s injury-hit squad, and is looking forward to being part of the Gunner’s title chase.
“Arsenal is an amazing club with a lot of great players and a coach who has done really well here for a long time,” he said to arsenal.com.
“I am so pleased to come here to learn as much as possible. I’m here to do my best for Arsenal and to help out the team, so we can achieve good results for the last part of the season.”
Arsenal had been doggedly pursuing Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler in the January window, but decided that the midfielder’s €40million buy-out clause was too much, and turned to the… Continue reading →
Fulham have announced the signing of West Ham United target Konstantinos Mitroglou from Olympiakos, for a club-record £12 million.
“Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Greece international Konstantinos Mitroglou on a four-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee, seeing the player at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2018,” a club statement read.
The Greece international scored three vital goals against Romania to send the sun-soaked nation to the World Cup. He also leaves the Greek Super League as this seasons top scorer, with 14 goals to his name so far. The 25-year-old striker is also the first Greek player to score a Champions League hat-trick. His enviable record could be pivotal in the race for safety.
The record deal doesn’t even represent Fulham’s best deal of a busy transfer deadline day, with the West London club earlier announcing that they had signed Lewis Holtby from… Continue reading →
Lewis Holtby will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Fulham, in a bid to claim a spot in Joachim Löw’s squad at the World Cup.
Tottenham agreed to let the German midfielder go to cross-town rivals Fulham, after the 23-year-old struggled to cement a first-team spot at White Hart Lane.
According to Holtby’s agent, Fulham is the ideal destination for his client.
“Fulham have put much effort into Lewis. It is a very well-run club with an excellent manager in Rene Meulensteen,” Holtby’s agent Markus Noack told BBC Sport.
“The system and philosophy of how Fulham play fits well with Lewis. He will have match practice in the second half of the season in his favourite position and then we’ll see how things are going by the summer.”

Kurt Zouma will start next season in the blue of Chelsea, after the London club confirmed a £12.5million deal with Ligue 1 club St Etienne.
The 19-year-old central defender has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge, but will complete the remainder of the season at the fourth-placed French club.
Chelsea had been monitoring Zouma for some time, and had planned to buy him at the end of the season, yet felt pressured by rival clubs to sign him six-months earlier.
“If we don’t do it now, we can’t do it in the summer because other clubs were strong on him,” said Jose Mourinho.
“He will join us for pre-season and we will see if it is to stay or go on loan. He is a young player for a position where we need a future.
“Job done; and he… Continue reading →
