After Real Madrid’s emphatic win in Munich last night, the focus is now on Stamford Bridge to see who will join Carlo Ancelotti’s men in Lisbon. Jose Mourinho produced a tactically astute performance in the first leg against Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish side limited to a number of half chances as Chelsea’s defence stood strong.
In that match, both John Terry and Petr Cech were forced to be substituted due to injury. Cech’s knock was the biggest concern as it was a suspected dislocated shoulder but surprisingly he made a swift return to training on Tuesday. Despite his rapid recovery, the Czech is not expected to feature in tonight’s game, meaning the veteran Mark Schwarzer will feature in goal once more.
In other areas of the pitch, there is more encouraging news for the West London side. John Terry is in contention to start after recovering from… Continue reading →
TIM SHERWOOD has raised many an eyebrow this season with his outlandish comments and the Tottenham boss has once again got people begging the question: “What are you talking about Tim?”
In recent times the former Blackburn and Spurs midfielder has come under fire at White Hart Lane with the club fans becoming increasingly frustrated with his attitude and strange comments he comes out with.
Last week he claimed he was the best manager to manage the club in the Premier League as he has the best win percentage. That may be true but “Dim Tim”, as he has become known, has only been in charge for four months so to come out and say he is the best is somewhat cocky.

Before the start of the game, the Merseyside outfit were lauded for their attacking intent, their high tempo football, their exquisite creative play, tearing teams apart from the kick off. They were expected to come into this match and prove that they could win when the pressure was on, knowing that Manchester City would be breathing down their necks. Instead, after 90 minutes, they seemed genuinely out of ideas, unable to carve out any gilt edge opportunities. In reality, Chelsea were rarely troubled.
Mourinho set his team up with defence in mind. Sitting deep, with two holding midfielders of Jon-Obi Mikel and Nemanja Matic, Liverpool were always going to struggle. They had the pace on the flanks,… Continue reading →
Racism has been an issue in Spanish football for a number of years now and on Saturday night Barcelona’s Daniel Alves was subjected to it by a Villarreal fan at the El Madrigal.
In the 76th minute Barca found themselves 2-1 down but were awarded a corner. As he was preparing to take it a fan through a banana onto the pitch right next to the Brazilian. Instead of letting it get to him Alves calmly picked up the soft fruit and took a bite before sending in the corner. It was a remarkable few seconds and Alves has received worldwide applause from fans,… Continue reading →
