Arsenal are strong favourites to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy this summer.
Manager Arsene Wenger has prioritised the signing of a striker before next season and Loic Remy is his number one target. The QPR striker has spent this season on loan at Newcastle United. His 14 goals in 26 appearances have attracted attention from Arsenal, who would surely have been more involved in the title fight with a top striker.
The 27-year-old is also wanted by Newcastle, however manager Alan Pardew concedes a permanent move is unlikely. Arsenal are 4/6 favourites to sign the French striker, Newcastle are in an unlikely second on 10/1. Remy joined the Geordies last summer and has been a rare positive in what the fans see as a disappointing season.
Remy’s parent club, QPR, are set to host Wigan in the second leg of the play-off semi-final on Monday. If they can gain promotion they may just be able to hold on to their star striker. It is expected, however, that an offer of £12 million may just convince club to sell. Manager Harry Redknapp will need funds in the summer if they do come up. He wants to ensure his side is better prepared to battle for safety this time around.
Arsenal will have to battle with bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Remy’s signature. This could be a recurring theme this summer too, with both sides also being linked with a move for Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne.
