Last week i brought to you my favourite underrated Premiership footballers. This week i give to you the players all the top clubs will be after as soon as June and another transfer window comes around.
5) Lucas Moura
It would be safe to say that Lucas Moura has not settled in brilliantly at French Ligue 1 champions Paris St. Germain. Having failed to score in his first 10 league appearances since joining in January of 2013, he has since netted just 3 times in 19 more league games. Not a brilliant return for a player who cost the French side a hefty £40 million. Rumours have been rife recently of a move abroad with many clubs interested including Manchester United, Napoli and Atletico Madrid.
If Moura does leave, it would no doubt be for a loss on the fee the Paris side paid for the player a year ago.… Continue reading →
Each week, I will be gracing your screens with a different ‘Top 5′ list. It could be anything from the Top 5 transfers last summer to the Top 5 dodgy footballer hair do’s. This week I will be focusing on the most under-rated players in the Barclays Premier League and why you should start taking notice of them!
The problem with picking ‘underrated’ players is that every player has his fans, so someone who may seem underrated to one person may be another’s idol! In my list, I have picked the players who i do not think get enough credit for the work they do. Leave your suggestions in the comments down below!
1) Steve Sidwell
Steve Sidwell has always been a player with bags of potential. At 31 now, he may well have missed his shot at signing for a top side but is doing very well at the… Continue reading →
It is safe to say that Barcelona are not having their best season. Currently tied on points at the top of La Liga with Real and Atletico Madrid, Barcelona are not dominating the league as much as they used to.
This could be down to a number of reasons, a shaky defence? Has the new manager not settled as well as hoped? Or do Barcelona simply rely on Lionel Messi too much?
All of these reasons may be true. But i believe that Lionel Messi’s long term injury severely halted Los Cules’ progress this year. It was obvious that even after Messi’s return, he was nowhere near full fitness and needed a few weeks to get back into his stride. This was arguably Messi’s first long term injury, and he has seemingly dealt with it well as his recent return to form shows.
Barcelona have missed Messi’s influence. During his… Continue reading →
Jose Mourinho recently stated that his ‘Little horse’ Chelsea are not in the title race, they are simply focusing on getting in the top four. Now, if this isnt a mind game i do not know what is.
Chelsea’s form of late has been nothing short of exceptional and with the mercurial Eden Hazard firing on all cylinders and scoring goals for fun, the recent beating of former title favourites Manchester City and the upturn in form of Samuel Eto’o, Chelsea have now emerged as favourites for the title.
Samuel Eto’o holds the key. All throughout the summer and January windows, fans were waiting with baited breath to see whether Chelsea were to sign a big name striker. Falcao was a name that was often dropped. The signing of Eto’o was met with mixed reviews, many believed he was only at Chelsea for one more pay day before he hung… Continue reading →
January 31st. The day when football fans across the country go into meltdown mode. Rumours are traded, false information spread and many many deals completed. This is my guide on how to keep your head on arguably the busiest footballing day of the year.
As a Liverpool fan today has been especially stressful. The on/off, then on again deal for Dnipro’s Yevhen Konoplyanka has been playing with fans for a few days now and everyone just wants to see the end right now. This is the case for many clubs around the country. Once a rumour has been leaked about a potentially large signing for the club, fans will do all they can to garner any information on the player or the deal.
Julian Draxler’s apparent transfer to Arsenal is another example. The fans want him at the club and know the club is interested, expectations are raised beyond any… Continue reading →
