Carlo Ancelotti – The New Man at Madrid

After the departure of Jose Mourinho from the Bernabeu hot seat, there was only one man that Florentino Perez wanted to replace the ‘Special One’ – Carlo Ancelotti. The former AC Milan, Chelsea and most recently Paris Saint Germain manager has joined an executive club of managers to take over at the Bernabeu and knows that all the man at the top wants is success.

After guiding PSG to the French Ligue 1 title, Ancelotti is a manager suited to the job, he knows the expectations of the club and had dealt with many of the world’s leading players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Didier Drogba.  On the other hand, he knows that Barcelona will once again be as strong as ever and will be determined to do what Mourinho didn’t last season. Win the title.

Ancelotti has already began to shape his new squad for the season with the departures of Raul Albiol and Gonzalo Higuain who have both joined Rafa Benitez at Napoli for a combined fee of over £40 million. The departure of Higuain, however, has left the Italian with only Karim Benzema as a recognised striker which means Ancelotti will be on the lookout for a new forward with the likes of Luis Suarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Aguero being the names linked to the vacant position.

The main man wanted in the Spanish capital is Gareth Bale. The Welsh wizard set the Premier League alight for Tottenham last season and is now a man in demand. The lure of playing for the Spanish giants is one many cannot refuse plus that fact that his club failed to qualify for the Champions League. Ancelotti is determined to secure the prized asset and is prepared to pay a joint world record fee of £80 million to secure his coveted services.

As Ancelotti prepares for his first season at the Bernabeu, he knows that Perez will demand success and that nothing else will be accepted. As the La Liga season approaches, Ancelotti will be hoping to secure one of his signings in time for the kick-off.  Despite being a completely different character to Mourinho, most people feel that the former AC Milan, Chelsea and PSG boss is one who suits the job and will deliver the success that the Madrid fans crave.
