TIM SHERWOOD has raised many an eyebrow this season with his outlandish comments and the Tottenham boss has once again got people begging the question: “What are you talking about Tim?”
In recent times the former Blackburn and Spurs midfielder has come under fire at White Hart Lane with the club fans becoming increasingly frustrated with his attitude and strange comments he comes out with.
Last week he claimed he was the best manager to manage the club in the Premier League as he has the best win percentage. That may be true but “Dim Tim”, as he has become known, has only been in charge for four months so to come out and say he is the best is somewhat cocky.
He has also launched scathing attacks on club legend Glenn Hoddle in recent weeks. The former England manager has stated that he was… Continue reading →
Arsenal and Everton kicked off the FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend. The two sides met at The Emirates stadium to contest one of only two all-Premier League ties. Out of favour Mesut Ozil got the Gunners off to a flying start with a well taken goal after only seven minutes. Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku equalised just after the half hour point but it wasn’t enough to stop Arsenal going through. Ex-Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta scored a penalty, that had to be retaken, to give the north London side the lead and two late goals from Olivier Giroud secured victory, as well as a semi-final spot.
Arsenal’s opponents were drawn before the final game of the weekend, Manchester City v Wigan Athletic. They were to face the winner of the tie. A straightforward win for City would ensure a huge Wembley semi-final. Wigan, however, had a plot twist in mind… Continue reading →
England Under-21 international Michael Keane has joined Blackburn Rovers on-loan for the remainder of the season.
Blackburn are in desperate need of central defenders, after Grant Hanley and Matt Kilgallon are both under an injury cloud.
Keane is likely to start in the East-Lancashire Derby against Burnley tomorrow, and is looking forward to helping the Rovers peg-back the high-flying Clarets.
“I know there’s a massive rivalry between the teams as I’ve watched a couple of the games before from a previous season so I know what to expect and I’m looking forward to it,” Keane said to the Lancashire Telegraph.
Keane was looking forward to a personal duel with striker Danny Ings – who has scored 24 goals this season – after the two were in the squad for England U21’s 1-0 win over Wales during the week.
“He’s a top class striker,… Continue reading →
Sacked on Friday, back on Monday – Brian McDermott will continue as Leeds United manager.
It appeared on Friday evening that McDermott had been relieved of his tenure by new owner Massimo Cellino – before the Italian businessman’s takeover bid had been finalised and approved by the Football League.
McDermott received a call from Cellino’s lawyer to inform him of the news, and was told that he would receive a formal letter the next day.
But on Saturday morning he instead was called by GFH – the outgoing owner of Leeds United – to say that he was still in charge.
And by Monday morning, McDermott had completed a full-loop and faced the press – once again as manager of Leeds.
“As far as I’m concerned, I spoke to GFH, who are the… Continue reading →
You could be fooled into thinking that transfer deadline day was a quiet one, with Arsenal and Chelsea the only sides from the top six of the Premier League to utilise the final day of the window to add to their squads. But elsewhere there were deals aplenty. The best deals in the top flight, in my mind, were done by Cardiff, Crystal Palace and Fulham. With Lewis Holtby, Tom Ince and Wilfried Zaha all finding new homes, albeit temporary ones. Manchester United completed their business earlier in the month, signing Juan Mata from Chelsea and the usually active Tottenham Hotspur, along with Liverpool and Manchester City, didn´t make a single signing in during the entire month.
Here is a list of every deal done in the top leagues in England on January 31st:
Nicky Adams [Crawley - Rotherham] Undisclosed
Gary Alexander [Crawley - Burton] Undisclosed
Ben Alnwick [Charlton - Leyton Orient] Undisclosed… Continue reading →
