Welbeck Heading For Old Trafford Exit?

As new Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal continues to make his mark on his squad at Old Trafford, one name being linked with departing the club is England international Danny Welbeck.

The England international who has often been used as a winger, despite his preference to be played through the middle, saw his number of opportunities lower under David Moyes and does not seemingly be a first name on the team sheet for Van Gaal. As Van Gaal implements his new 3-5-2 formation, Welbeck was hoping for more game time at the top end of the pitch, however it is clear that Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie now occupy those positions, it may leave Welbeck with only brief appearances under the new era at Old Trafford.

The 23 year old, who will hope to kick off and establish himself in the Premier League and for his country, is… Continue reading →

Liverpool in talks with Milan over Balotelli move

Liverpool have started negotiations with Italian giants AC Milan over a permanent move for Italy international striker Mario Balotelli.

Last night it appeared that manager Brendan Rodgers wanted to sign the former Manchester City star on loan. However, Milan are said to prefer a permanent move to cash-in on any transfer. Now Liverpool have begun talks to make this happen before the transfer deadline.

The 24-year-old was reportedly a target for Arsenal before the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. Now the man who feels like he is always unfairly targeted is being seen as a replacement for Luis Suarez, who joined the Catalan giants this summer. Balotelli’s apparent availability has re-sparked the interest of the Gunners, with Chelsea apparently also interested as they seek a long term replacement for the returning messiah, Didier Drogba.

Manchester United Reach Rojo Agreement

Manchester United have reached an agreement for their third deal of the transfer window with the capture of Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo for a fee of £16 million.

The deal also sees Portuguese winger Nani heading in the opposite direction on a season long loan 7 years after leaving Lisbon for Old Trafford.

The Argentine defender, who has seen his stock rise since his impressive World Cup will bolster United manager Louis Van Gaal’s defensive options which look vulnerable during the opening day defeat to Swansea. The defender, who can operate either as a left centre half or as a left full back, is seen as the type of player who is adaptable and will fit into Van Gaal’s 3-5-2 formation with ease.

The Argentinian, who made 6 appearances during the World Cup, is seen as the first of a few more signings before the end of the window… Continue reading →

QPR Set To Sign Fer

Queens Park Rangers are set to complete the signing of Norwich midfielder Leroy Fer for a fee rumoured to be £8 million. The Dutch international is expected to be manager Harry Redknapp’s second midfield capture of the summer along with the £5 million addition of Jordan Mutch from Cardiff.

The powerful midfielder who scored 4 goals in 32 appearances for the Canaries last season will add much needed strength and power to a midfield which already has the likes of Mutch, Joey Barton and Alejandro Faurlin. Since Norwich’s relegation from the top tier of English football, Fer’s future has been the subject of constant speculation as many clubs around Europe sought the Dutch midfielder; however it is QPR who look to have clinched the deal.

Add to this the captures of veteran defender Rio Ferdinand, Cardiff’s Steven Caulker and Juventus Mauricio Isla on a season long loan, it… Continue reading →

Premier League Gameweek One Review

THE TOP FOUR from last season all won their opening fixtures on what was an action-packed weekend of Premier League football.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City avoided any early season jitters to claim all three points and set the pace at the top of the table, however, for fellow title challengers Manchester United it was the same old story as they came unstuck in Louis Van Gaal’s first league match in charge.

Elsewhere there were wins for Aston Villa, Hull City, Swansea City and a last-minute winner for Tottenham Hotspur over London rivals West Ham United, as all four sides triumphed on their travels.

North London rivals both strike late in derby wins

Arsenal went into their match with Crystal Palace thoroughly expecting to claim all three points, however, they were made to sweat by the Eagles.
After losing their manager less than 48 hours before Palace put in… Continue reading →
