Liverpool sign Arsenal and Spurs target

Liverpool have announced the £10 million signing of Belgian World Cup star Divock Origi from Lille.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with a move for Origi. But the talented striker has chosen Anfield, signing a five-year-deal with the Premier League runners-up.

Origi has been linked with a move to England for over a year now but interest intensified after a successful campaign in Brazil. Belgium reached the quarter-finals, with the new Liverpool man playing every game.

Liverpool hope their latest signing will prove to be a long term replacement for Luis Suarez. But we will have to wait a while to see him in Liverpool colours, he has immediately been loaned back to Lille for the duration of next season.

Talking on the club website Origi spoke of his excitement at playing for a club of such magnitude.

United to launch £60m bid for golden boot winner

Manchester United are considering a staggering £60 million bid for World Cup golden boot winner James Rodriguez in an attempt to beat Real Madrid to his signature, according to the Daily Express.

Rodriguez set the World Cup alight, scoring six goals in five matches to finish the tournament as top scorer. The 22-year-old was a massive outsider to out score the worlds biggest names in Brazil, priced at 100/1 before a ball was kicked. This has led to strong interest from Europe’s biggest clubs, including Spanish giants Real Madrid. But new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has put the young Colombian at the top of his wish list.

Monaco are set to cash in on their new star asset – but not before a potential bidding war ensures they maximise their return. Rodriguez has spoken of his desire to play for Los Blancos but the Red Devils are… Continue reading →

Champions League winner to join Chelsea?

Reports are suggesting that young French starlet Raphaël Varane could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Having just won La Decima with Real Madrid, the Daily Star is reporting that the 21-year-old is a transfer target for Chelsea. With the departure of David Luiz, he is seen as someone who has the ability to step into the team and replace the Brazilian.

Varane started off his career in his native France, playing for Racing Club de Lens. Breaking into the first team at the tender age of 17, the centre half went onto make 24 appearances for the club, even chipping in with two goals. He made such an impression in his debut season, he was actually given the captain’s armband for a game. Not bad for a player who had only been given his chance due to injuries.
