Arsenal and Spurs to battle for Napoli star

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are set to go head to head in their attempts to sign Napoli’s £20 million-rated forward Lorenzo Insigne.

The 22-year-old has recently come under fire from the Napoli fans leading him to claim he ‘means nothing to the fans’. He now seems intent on moving to a club where his talents will be more appreciated, with Arsenal and Spurs both interested.

The North London rivals are both looking to strengthen their forward lines and are now set to lock horns over the Italy international. Insigne is equally comfortable on either wing or up front, which especially appeals to Gunners manager Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman saw what his target was capable first hand this season. He was impressive when Napoli met Arsenal in the Champions League.

European football could well be the tipping point in any decision made by Insigne. Tottenham are now doomed… Continue reading →

Taarabt to stay at San Siro?

Adel Taarabt wants to make his loan move from QPR to Italian giants AC Milan a permanent one, the Daily Mail says.

The enigmatic midfielder, who joined the San Siro outfit at the end of January 2014, is keen to see the deal through, with the West London club looking for a fee in the region of £4 million. A move to Italy would be attractive for the Moroccan international, a fresh start, away from his troubles in England.

His talent has never been in question. His ability to beat players, score and create goals have never been doubted. Rather his temperament has held him back.  He apparently refused to play alongside Joey Barton after he was made captain at the expense of Taarabt. After being substituted at half time in a game, he reputedly left the ground and got a bus home. In June 2011, the young playmaker retired… Continue reading →

Inter will sign Torres, if he wants the move

Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio today confirmed the club will sign Chelsea striker Fernando Torres if the Spaniard has the fight for the cause.

Blues manager Jose Mourinho is looking to lighten the wage bill before building a squad he feels will win the Premier League next season. Torres, along with fellow strikers Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o, will be shown the exit door as the Portuguese tactician looks to address the clubs main problem, goal scoring.

Inter have fallen far behind Serie A leaders Juventus in the past few years. Ausilio is desperate to strengthen the squad in an attempt to close the growing gap. He feels Chelsea’s flop forward would be more successful in Italy, if he has the desire to do so.

“He is a player we are following. Torres’ career speaks for itself, the titles he has won and the teams in which he has… Continue reading →

Roma line-up Vertonghen move

Could Jan Vertonghen quit London for Rome?

JAN VERTONGHEN could soon be about to hand Tottenham Hotspur an end-of-season blow by leaving at the end of the current campaign.
The Belgian is a transfer target for Seria A side AS Roma and with Champions League football guaranteed at the Stadio Olimpico next season, Vertonghen could be able to jump ship.

Roma based newspaper Il Messaggero has stated that after qualifying for Europe’s premier competition for the 2014-2015 season the Giallorossi have started their summer transfer plans, with Vertonghen at the front of the queue.

The 27-year old has proved to be one of the Premier League’s best defenders since he signed for Spurs in 2012, with his ability to play centre back, left back and defensive midfield one of his many strengths.
