Milan Keen On Kaka

Real Madrid attacking midfielder Kaka could be ready for a return to former club Milan, where he served with such great distinction for six years before leaving in 2009.

The 31-year-old Brazilian struggled to repeat the fabulous form he displayed so often at the San Siro since moving on, while largely filling a spot on the bench for much of his stay in Spain.

Kaka was recently quoted as saying he’d be off this summer and speculation mounts that a rekindling of his love affair with Milan is most likely.

There’s also been some talk of possible Premier League interest from Arsenal in particular, who remain desperate for reinforcements. However, they seem outsiders for his signature in the face of competition from the club that handed Kaka his big opportunity to play in Europe back in 2003.

Head coach of the Rossoneri, Massimiliano Allegri, made it clear that he’d love… Continue reading →

Rolando Rolls Into Inter

FC Porto have agreed to release defender Rolando on a season-long loan to Internazionale.

The Portuguese international finalised his move after competing a medical successfully yesterday.

He’s no stranger to Serie A, having been at Napoli on loan during the second half of last season. However, he failed to gain a regular spot in the team and will hope for better luck this time, as Inter attempt to put the horror of their last campaign behind them.

At 27, the former Belenenses centre-back is desperate for game-time and faced an uncertain future at Porto. New Inter head coach Walter Mazzarri was in charge the player at Napoli and obviously rates the defender highly to have given him another shot with his new side.

However, he joins a squad top-heavy in central defenders, making it difficult to break into the line-up; Walter Samuel, Cristian Chivu, Hugo Campagnaro and Ibrahima Mbaye all… Continue reading →

Hamsik Hands Benitez Boost

Slovakian attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik has agreed a new five-year contract at Napoli, allaying fears surrounding his future with the Serie A side.

New head coach Rafa Benitez saw star striker Edinson Cavani move on to PSG in a multi-million pound deal, but has so far resisted overtures for other prize assets.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss went about building a highly competitive squad in Naples with the money generated by the sale of Cavani and will be delighted Hamsik chose to commit long-term to the project.

Hamsik, 26, plundered 70 goals from 262 appearances in a Napoli shirt since moving from Brescia in 2007. That all-too-rare commodity of a goalscoring midfielder is hard to find and Benitez would’ve been under great pressure to replace the Slovak superstar if he’d decided to try his luck elsewhere.

However, the situation at Stadio San Paolo is looking increasingly bright as Benitez… Continue reading →

Gervinho joins Roma

Roma have announced the signing of Gervinho from Arsenal for a reported fee of £8 million.

The Ivory Coast international joined Arsenal in 2011 having guided Lille to a league and cup double the season before but failed to make any real impression in London. He only scored four goals in his debut season and disappointed the Emirates faithful with his wastefulness in front of goal.

Last season the 26-year-old showed flashes of the form seen in France and managed 5 goal in his first seven games before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations and only mustered up two more goals on his return.

Manager Arsene Wenger hoped Gervinho would bring ‘pace and goals’ to his team but unfortunately the latter never came with any regularity. He joins a Stadio Olimpico revolution with hopes of rekindling a career full of early promise, becoming the 13th… Continue reading →

Inter Milan sign Uruguayan Diego Laxalt

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Uruguayan U20 international Diego Laxalt from Defensor Sporting.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract and becomes the latest part of the Inter revolution after a horrendous 2012/2013 campaign which saw them finish 9th, their worst finish for 19 years.

The midfielder helped Uruguay to the final of the Under-20 World Cup this summer in Turkey, playing in every game as they ended runners up to France after a penalty shout-out defeat. Uruguay were noted for their defensive resilience during the tournament which was evident when France, an attacking powerhouse, failed to score in 120 minutes of open play.

Loxalt becomes new Inter manager Walter Mazzarri’s latest summer signing having recently secured the services of Mauro Icardi from Sampdoria and Ishak Belfodil from Parma, as well as Hugo Campagnaro from Napoli.

Antonio Cassano and Dejan Stankovic are the biggest… Continue reading →
