Tottenham Pochspurs!

Pochettino has been handed a five-year contract by Spurs

DANIEL LEVY’S search for a new manager at Spurs is finally over after appointing Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino, who becomes the clubs 10th manager in 13 seasons.
The Argentine replaces Tim Sherwood, who was sacked on May 13, and has signed a five-year contract to take charge at White Hart Lane after resigning from his position at Saints.

It is thought that that the South Coast club failed to match the former Espanyol man’s future ambitions after it was revealed earlier this month that the club could cash in on England internationals Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw.
Southampton and Pochettino were last week locked in talks as both parties tried to find a solution, however once it became clear that the Saints were ready to part with their two most prized assets Pochettino decided it was time to leave.

“It will be difficult to do worse”. Those are the words of Hugo Lloris on Tottenham Hotspur’s season with the club missing out once again on Champions League football.

The French goalkeeper has launched a scathing assessment on his sides Premier League campaign and stated that this season hasn’t been good enough for them.

With a new manager being sought at White Hart Lane ahead of the 2014-2015 season there have been calls for Lloris to be handed the captaincy in North London, as the club looks to build for a renewed assault next season on the top-four.

Sherwood talks interim jobs and cup football

Here is the first interview of Tim Sherwood after he was appointed interim manager of Tottenham Hotspur following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.

Sherwood has been named as temporary boss and will be assisted by another ex-Spurs player, Les Ferdinand. He is talking here ahead of the Capital One Cup clash with West Ham tomorrow. He will be eager to rectify the problems that saw the side fall 3-0 to The Hammers at White Hart Lane earlier in the season.

He admits Vlad Chiriches could return to first team football after injury but Sandro will miss out after limping off after 30 minutes of the devastating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on the weekend. Paulinho will also miss out after his red card in the same game.

Dust off the trophy cabinet warns Arsene Wenger

Manager Arsene Wenger agrees with striker Theo Walcott, as his Arsenal side take on fine form ahead of their game against Stoke this afternoon.

With his improving side securing a club-record run of 10 successive games in all competitions, the Arsenal manager has admitted that he believes his team can finally end their nine-year drought this season.

Wenger’s comments come after Walcott stated that he thought the north London side could be title contenders this season. Despite a host of first-team players being out through injury, Arsenal started their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 win over Marseille on Wednesday.

“There is so much belief in this team at the moment and I think it’s showing”, said Walcott. “I think we’ll push on and we can definitely challenge this year.”

Arsene Wenger later backed up these claims saying, “I believe we have a chance to win the title. My energy is focused… Continue reading →
