Valencia striker Roberto Soldado a wanted man

Tottenham continue to negotiate the signing of striker Roberto Soldado from Valencia.


The cash-strapped La Liga side appear to be holding out for Tottenham to meet the player’s £25m buy-out clause; a hefty fee for a 28 year old, especially considering Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic has publicly admitted Soldado is heading for the exit.


Tottenham find themselves short of firepower, with manager Andre Villas-Boas looking to recruit competition for Jermaine Defoe and the enigmatic Emmanuel Adebayor.


A return of 59 goals in 101 appearances for Valencia has earned the forward 11 caps for Spain; no mean feat in such a golden era for Spanish football.

Jose Bosingwa leaves QPR


Queens Park Rangers right-back Jose Bosingwa has left the club by mutual consent and now looks close to completing a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.


The Portuguese defender joined QPR last summer after being released by Chelsea and was one of Mark Hughes’ marquee signings. But his status and high wages were not reflected in his performances and Rangers were relegated, with many feeling players like Bosingwa couldn’t care less just as long as they picked up their pay packet at the end of each week.


His reportedly astronomical wages and the disharmony he brought to the squad were the main reasons new manager Harry Redknapp wanted to offload the full-back as quickly as possible this summer and he can now build a squad that he feels can guide the club back to the Premier League.
