Arsenal are set to offload misfit Gervinho to Roma within the next 24 hours following a torrid two years at the Emirates.
The 26-year-old signed for £11million from Lille back in 2011, but failed to live up to his price tag with several wayward performances.
Ivory Coast international Gervinho managed only four league goals last season, most of his appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench.
Now, a fresh start beckons in the Eternal City under former Lille boss Rudi Garcia, now in charge of the Roman giants. It’s believed they are ready to pay a fraction of the fee Arsenal forked out; around £6.9million according to reports.
Even so, it frees up a spot up-front for a new squad member, while eliminating the frustrating forward from the wage bill.
Arsenal supremo Arsene Wenger will attempt to replace him with the type of big-name signing the Gunners fans crave, as the north Londoners look to make an assault on the Premier League title after eight trophy-less campaigns.
