Roma have announced the signing of Gervinho from Arsenal for a reported fee of £8 million.
The Ivory Coast international joined Arsenal in 2011 having guided Lille to a league and cup double the season before but failed to make any real impression in London. He only scored four goals in his debut season and disappointed the Emirates faithful with his wastefulness in front of goal.
Last season the 26-year-old showed flashes of the form seen in France and managed 5 goal in his first seven games before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations and only mustered up two more goals on his return.
Manager Arsene Wenger hoped Gervinho would bring ‘pace and goals’ to his team but unfortunately the latter never came with any regularity. He joins a Stadio Olimpico revolution with hopes of rekindling a career full of early promise, becoming the 13th player to join the Italian giants this summer.
Roma finished 6th in Serie A last season but manager Rudi Garcia has designs on the title this time around and hopes to get the best out of the lightning-quick striker.
