Olympique Lyon are set to part with star forward Lisandro Lopez, leaving Newcastle United target Bafetimbi Gomis as their only senior player in the striking department.
Former FC Porto star Lisandro wishes to make the switch to Qatari club Al-Gharafa in what promises to be a lucrative move for the Argentine.
The fee being discussed is said to be around the €6million mark, leaving Lyon with very little to work with in terms of finding a worthy replacement.
Meanwhile, several delays have taken place over the last fortnight as Premier League side Newcastle stepped up their interest in Lisandro’s team-mate Gomis and this latest development certainly won’t speed up the process; it could even put an end to the English club’s chances of clinching a deal for the powerful forward altogether.
Confirmation of Lisandro’s move is expected early next week, once the 30-year-old agrees personal terms and completes a routine medical.
