Bayern boss Josep Guardiola this evening made it crystal clear he hasn’t any intention of bidding for Chelsea defender David Luiz, despite speculation to the contrary.
42-year-old Pep has several options available to him in the heart of defence at the Allianz Arena already and insists he’s happy with what he has, despite the surprise 4-2 loss to rivals Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup last weekend.
Brazil international David Luiz is also rumoured to be attracting the attention of reigning La Liga champions Barcelona, with talk of €40m on the table in return for his services.
The Catalan giants certainly require reinforcements at the back and their former head coach Guardiola won’t challenge them for the erratic yet talented 26-year-old.
If Barcelona decide to firm up their interest, it’s distinctly possible that returning Chelsea hero Jose Mourinho will take the bait, providing he finds a suitable alternative in the transfer market for the all-important central defensive role.
