Harry Redknapp is confident of a reunion with Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker at Queens Park Rangers.
Ex-Spurs manager Redknapp is now in charge of Championship side QPR and understands the value of midfield steel in “one of the toughest league’s in the world.” This has forced him to look to the midfielder he signed for the North London club two years ago from West Ham.
The 32-year-old had a fantastic first season under Redknapp, winning Spurs’ player of the year award, voted by fans. His willingness to put his body on the line for the team endeared him to the White Hart Lane faithful. Last season injury, along with the rise to prominence of Brazilian Sandro, meant he didn’t reach the same heights last campaign.
This hasn’t prevented Redknapp from chasing his man this summer however and negotiations have been on-going between the two clubs since June. Parker’s wages, reportedly £70,000-a-week, along with the £3.5 million price tag were believed to be a stumbling block for Rangers but negotiations have been stepped up in the last few days. It appears the signings of midfielders Paulinho and Etienne Capoue have seen Parker fall right down the pecking order and towards the exit door.
