FC Porto have agreed to release defender Rolando on a season-long loan to Internazionale.
The Portuguese international finalised his move after competing a medical successfully yesterday.
He’s no stranger to Serie A, having been at Napoli on loan during the second half of last season. However, he failed to gain a regular spot in the team and will hope for better luck this time, as Inter attempt to put the horror of their last campaign behind them.
At 27, the former Belenenses centre-back is desperate for game-time and faced an uncertain future at Porto. New Inter head coach Walter Mazzarri was in charge the player at Napoli and obviously rates the defender highly to have given him another shot with his new side.
However, he joins a squad top-heavy in central defenders, making it difficult to break into the line-up; Walter Samuel, Cristian Chivu, Hugo Campagnaro and Ibrahima Mbaye all stand in the way for a place in the team. Rolando will do well to displace them to make a starting berth his own.
