The stories that have run throughout the transfer window. Suarez to leave Liverpool? Rooney to Chelsea? 85 million for Bale? Everywhere a football fan has turned this close season, these are the stories that have greeted them. But behind the hype, one question remains… Who wins, and who loses?
The story of an impending transfer involving Luis Suarez has been rumbling all season and the implications for Liverpool are all too obvious. They don’t have the depth to cope with such a big loss, and time is running out to find a replacement. Also for a club that has been absent from the Champions League for the last 4 years, can they attract players of Suarez’s calibre at present?
Arsenal, on the other hand, are crying out for Suarez. This is clear from the huge transfer fee they have reportedly offered. The Uruguay international is an ideal replacement for Robin Van Persie; a player Arsenal missed substantially last season. But any sign of the striker joining may spell trouble for Theo Walcott. It is no secret that the England forward is desperate to play in his preferred central role, but Arsenal will struggle to accommodate this with Suarez being the key man in attack. That means Walcott sticking to the wing, and possibly the next big player to try to push through a departure from the Emirates.
At £40 Million (and £1), this could become one of the biggest transfers of the window. But there is one potential move which is proving to be more controversial.
