According to reports in France, Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Toulouse anchorman Etienne Capoue.
The 25-year-old French international will travel to North London this week to complete the £10 million move subject to a medical and will sign a five-year contract. The Toulouse midfielder was a target for rivals Arsenal earlier in the transfer window and also turned down an offer to join Premier League new boys Cardiff City.
Capoue, who stands at 6ft 2inches, is a defensive midfielder who can also play as a centre half. He has five full international caps for France, scoring one goal. The Frenchman began his career at Toulouse, making his debut in 2007 and has since made 173 appearances for the club scoring 13 times along the way.
Should Tottenham pull this deal off it will be their fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Roberto Soldado. Which will give Spurs fans something to smile about amid the uncertainty of Gareth Bale’s future.
